Crematorium is a selection of work by Johannes Twielemeier photographed in several crematories in Germany and that is first of his ongoing "Final Places" project. He says that
what interested me so much about crematories was the fact that these rooms are "taboo". When I started taking pictures I was surprised not just by the ugly and hideous atmosphere inside these places, but most of all about the absolute lack of any sort of reverence.
Johannes's images capture the cold, dingy atmosphere of a place in which something as monumental as death can be reduced to a simple assembly line.
