Local Color is a selection of Holga photographs by photographer Steph Parke from her project about decrepit façades and storefronts in her hometown of Ogden, Utah. Steph says of her project that
after a short time and a few comments from friends and family, I realized that I had created a sort of guessing game. These are images of common buildings but because they lack surrounding details like neighboring structures or street signs, they become only vaguely familiar, making the viewer wonder “Where have I seen that?”
The Holga's vignetting perfectly compliments the melancholy subject of decay, and the soft focus and tones create a sense of an era that is slowly fading and wearing away.
