We are pleased to present Selected Work by photographer Dustin Aksland. Dustin says of his work that

they all share a similar theme of beauty and isolation. As a teenager my summer job was driving box vans through the Central Valley of California for my father's delivery business. It was both fuel for escapism and a seed for my interest in the contradictions of life in the United States. The environment is often expansive, beautiful, and peaceful but is met with the dominance of functionality and a sense of isolation. The scenes that I respond to the most are those, which allow a moment of escape -- perhaps in their beauty -- but which might also hint at a story or history, provoke thought, humor, or depict things which are neglected.

Dustin is a photographer whose work illustrates the strange beauty found in the startling contradictions of American life, and we urge you to check out more on his web site.
